Nothing beats a nice plate of fish and chips, and that is the reason it is our nation’s favourite dish.
But where is the best chippy and who sells the best fish and chips?
Millions of us across the country regularly treat ourselves to the dish but the age-old argument continues, just whose fish and chips are best?
That is why the Telegraph is launching its very own campaign to find the best in the area, giving you the power to decide.
Our voting line is now open, giving you the chance to tell us who knows their stuff when it comes to crispy batter.
We have six contenders battling it out to be crowned winner of the Best Fish and Chip Shop of the Year 2013.
More than £250m worth of fish and chip meals are sold in the UK each year and a quarter of all potatoes grown in Britain are turned into chips – that’s about 1.5 million tonnes each year.
So forget the X Factor, forget Strictly Come Dancing, this is the vote that counts.
We all have our own favourite chippy and now it is your chance to tell us who is king, with votes closing on March 7.
The winner will be announced on March 14 and will receive a trophy and prominent publicity in the paper, as well as the title of best chippy for the year.
