Weldon Pre-School has been given a top rating for food hygiene and a Healthy Heartbeat award.

It was presented by Paul Burrell, senior environmental health officer at Corby Council, and shows the pre-school offers children healthy eating options and follows all the guidelines for hygienic food preparation.

Barbara Buffin, chairman of the pre-school’s committee, said: “We are very proud to be able to provide healthy, tasty snacks for the children.

“The UK has one of the highest rates of heart disease and the most rapidly increasing rates of obesity in Europe. Eating a well-balanced, healthier diet, inside and outside the home, will contribute towards better heart health and help to reduce the risk of ill health.”

Weldon Pre-School, which has been operating at the village hall for the past 30 years, is a committee-run charity offering 30 places for children aged from two to 5.
