A Rushden racing driver is appealing for people from across the county to vote for him to be given the chance to compete against Formula 1 stars such as Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel.
Bradley Philpot, 29, has made it through to the final 10 of the public vote to take part in the Race of Champions competition, which is being held at London’s Olympic Stadium on November 20.
He had to submit a three-minute video showcasing his driving skills – and now he has made the judges’ shortlist.
Bradley, who works as a race instructor at Bedford Autodrome, says the chance of racing alongside motorsport legends means everything to him.
He said: “My career successes so far have been through winning competitions and this means everything to me.
“If I were to win this competition I would remember it for the rest of my life.
“It’s an enormous and extremely rare opportunity and I’m doing everything I can to win it.
“My aspiration is to become a paid GT driver and be recognised as a driver worth paying to race.”
Bradley currently sits second in the polls and must finish in the top two to enter a final shootout to claim the prized grid place.
He added: “My proudest moment was winning the Toyota MR2 UK Championships in 2007 and I’ve also won Red Bull karting titles.
“I’d love as many Northamptonshire people as possible to vote for me so I can make the county proud.
“This is such a massive stage for me to compete on and will be viewed by tens of thousands of people.”
Voting closes this at lunchtime this Friday, November 6.
