A group of brave fundraisers are tackling the ‘high seas’ of the River Nene today, as they bid to raise cash for Red Nose Day.
Twenty-two ‘Pirate Paddlers’ set off from Ditchford this morning and will travel along the river until they reach Thrapston.
Canoe2 are hosting the event and director Ian Blackwell said he is hopeful the journey will raise as much money as possible.
He added:” So far, there’s about £2,400 been raised and we’re confident that there’s still more to come, but we’re delighted with that already.”
The fundraisers, which included a group of American friends who are travelling through the UK, set off at around 10am this morning, dressed in full pirate outfit, and Mr Blackwell said the journey will take around five hours to complete.
