VIDEO: Eddie Izzard gives his views on EU referendum at Corby school

Staff and students were given the chance to hear about the Remain campaign before making their own minds up on the EU referendum.

Comedian Eddie Izzard spoke at Corby Business Academy yesterday, with about 100 staff and sixth formers from Brooke Weston Trust schools there to hear his views.

It was the 24th day of Eddie’s campaign to visit 31 places in 31 days ahead of the vote on June 23.

During his trip to Corby, he was keen to talk about the opportunities which being in the EU provide, especially for young people, and said: “I am doing a positive campaign, voila!”

He took questions from the floor on a range of issues, including the economy, security and immigration.

Speaking afterwards, the comedian said: “They were asking some good questions so it was good to talk to them.”

He also urged all those at the event to ‘get out there and vote early’ when the polls open next week.

Corby Business Academy’s associate principal Janet Duggan said: “Whilst the Brooke Weston Trust does not align itself with any political viewpoint we are about learning and know that any choices or decisions we take must be informed ones.

“Therefore we welcome visitors to our school to help us to make the right choices for us as individuals.

“We welcomed Eddie Izzard yesterday and will be welcoming Vote Leave campaigner Helen Harrison on Wednesday.”
