People are being asked to enter a competition to name a new Mexican bar and restaurant in Wellingborough.
The bar at the Hind Hotel will also be used as a Mexican-themed eatery from July 6.
Hotel operation director, Shasha Khan, is appealing for help to name the new venture.
He’s keen that the new name should reflect the history of the 17th century Hind, which a resting point for a large contingent of Oliver Cromwell’s Army before marching into battle at nearby Naseby in 1645
Mr Khan said: “We are not turning it into an exclusive Mexican restaurant, but there will be a heavy emphasis on Mexican food. We are bringing a touch of Guadalajara to Wellingborough.
“Ideally, I would like the name to reflect the historical association of the hotel.
“We want people to call in to the hotel, or email their suggestion for the new name, along with their name and their contact details. The bar will be called after the winner’s suggested name, They will also win a meal for two at the new Mexican restaurant.”
The restaurant will be officially opened during the weekend of Wellingborough’s annual Carnival.
The hotel’s food and beverage manager Debbie Reilly came up with the idea for the new restaurant.
She said: “The new menu will include traditional Mexican food, including burritos, fajitas, nachos and enchiladas, and specials, including dishes like rattlesnake sausages.
“I hope it will have a TGI Fridays feel to it.”To enter, drop your suggestion off at the Hind Hotel or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
