More than 100 youngsters are getting ready to take part in the latest instalment of a popular variety show.

This year’s Gang Show runs for four days next week at the Lighthouse Theatre, Kettering.

Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts between the ages of eight and 26 will take part in the extravaganza.

Chris Curchin, who is organising the show, said preparations had been ongoing for many months.

He said: “Planning started in January this year, auditions were held in May and rehearsals started in late June.

“We rehearsed once a week up until the end of July and twice a week since the summer holidays.”

Mr Curchin said the concept of a Gang Show was initiated 80 years ago as a fundraiser for a Scout group in Kent.

He said the show was aimed at families and would have something for everyone.

He added: “A Gang Show is a general variety entertainment show. Acts can be anything from slapstick comedy to sketches or as up to date as modern pop songs.

“There really is something in the show for everyone, both young and old.”

Performances will take place at 7.15pm each day between Wednesday, November 21, and Saturday, November 24, and will last two-and-a-half hours. There will also be a matinee showing on the Saturday at 2.15pm. Contact the Lighthouse Theatre on 01536 414141 for tickets.
