Councillors say they are ‘appalled’ after vandals left graffiti on a skatepark and nearby pavilion and then returned the following night to do it again.
Higham Ferrers Town Council is appealing for anyone with information about who is responsible for the vandalism at the town’s skatepark and pavilion to come forward.
The council is appalled at the graffiti that has appeared on the ramps and also on the nearby pavilionCllr Derek Lawson MBE
The first incident took place overnight on Monday, August 10, but was removed the next day.
However, the following night saw further graffiti daubed across the two areas which had only just been cleaned up.
Town council leader Cllr Derek Lawson MBE said: “After all the hard work in raising the money for the skateboard park, the council is appalled at the graffiti that has appeared on the ramps and also on the nearby pavilion.
“They take the matter very seriously and are working closely with the police to catch the culprits.
“They would be grateful for information that would help catch the offenders.”
The council has tweeted about the grafitti and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
The skatepark only opened in February this year, but is a very popular and well-used facility.
A police spokesman said they had received two reports of graffiti which took place overnight on Aug 10 and then again overnight on August 11.
The spokesman added: “The safer community team is working closely with the council and is going to be patrolling the area more.
“They will be out speaking to local youngsters to see if anyone has any information.
“They will also be carrying out reassurance work in the area.”
Anyone who has information about the graffiti can call the police on 101.
