A charity is appealing for volunteer dog walkers who would be willing to help a pet owner in Higham Ferrers.
The Cinnamon Trust is a national charity which has volunteers who help people who are elderly or terminally ill by offering all kinds of pet care.
They try to keep the owner and the pet together for as long as possible with the help of its volunteers who assist when day-to-day care is a problem.
And the charity has made an urgent appeal for anyone who may be able to help them with support for a pet owner in Higham Ferrers.
A spokesman for the charity said: “We urgently need dog walking volunteers in Higham Ferrers who are able to help a local resident and their adorable six-year-old Bichon Frise who would love to go for a good walk.
“If you would like to help we would be delighted to hear from you.”
The charity says a large number of elderly or ill pet owners become very worried about their ability to care for their pets and often think that their only option is to rehome them.
However, the charity has a national network of dedicated volunteers who step in to offer support which can enable them to stay together.
The spokesman added: “We’ll walk the dog for a housebound owner, we’ll foster pets when owners need hospital care, we’ll fetch the cat food, even clean out the bird cage or litter trays.
“We always need new volunteers so even if you can only spare an hour a week we would love to hear from you.”
Anyone who can help is asked to call Sally on 01736 758707 during office hours or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
