The general manager of a car park firm which sent out fines in error to dozens of motorists who used a car park in Corby has apologised and said everyone will be refunded.
Guy Watson, of Secure Parking UK, said a software glitch meant fines were sent to people who had used the car park at the Oasis Retail Park.
Last week, the Telegraph was contacted by a number of readers who were sent fines by the operators of the car park.
Mr Watson said: “We are deeply embarrassed about this.
“We are a very big firm operating car parks in 12 different countries and this is not the way we operate.
“We will be investigating each and every fine but we are asking people to get in touch with us in the meantime so we can cross them off the list.”
Mr Watson said anyone who believes they have received a fine in error should send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
He added: “We will be issuing refunds to people who have paid the fines in error. This may take two or three working days but we are making amends as fast as possible.
“We are asking people who have received the fine notice and not paid to also email us, so we can cross them off the list.”
