UCL: Brittain at the double as Flourmen seal first success

Whitworth claimed their first win of the Future Lions United Counties League Premier Division season and moved off the bottom of the table as a result as they beat Harborough Town 2-1 at London Road.

Remy Brittain was the hero as he grabbed both goals for the Flourmen.

They have been replaced at the foot of the table by Rothwell Corinthians who remain without a win after Wellingborough Town took the derby honours with a 2-1 success at Sergeants Lawn.

Goals from Beppe Freitas and Jezz Adams secured the points for the Doughboys

Desborough Town came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at Oadby Town.

Ar Tarn trailed at the break but Liam Boath grabbed the equaliser in the second half.

It was a bad day for the local clubs in Division One with the only team to pick up a point being Rushden & Higham United as they claimed a 1-1 draw at Lutterworth Athletic.

Elsewhere, there was little joy as Irchester United lost 3-2 at home to Bourne Town and Thrapston Town were edged out 2-1 by Harrowby United at Chancery Lane.

Burton Park Wanderers went down 1-0 to Aylestone Park at Latimer Park and rock-bottom Raunds Town were condemned to a sixth straight league defeat as they were hammered 6-0 by top-of-the-table Melton Town at Kiln Park.
