Two taken to hospital after serious crash which closed A605 both ways

Two people were taken to hospital this morning (Friday) following a serious crash which shut the A605 in both directions.

Police were called to the incident at 4.45am and closed the road between Lilford/Pilton and Thrapston at the A14 while emergency services dealt with the two vehicle collision.

A lorry jack-knifed, causing a car to crash into it, with both drivers taken to Kettering General Hospital after Northants Fire and Rescue cut one person free from the car.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police was unable to confirm the severity of the injuries but added that they were not life-threatening.

Stagecoach buses between Peterborough and Corby were also delayed due to the crash.

The road reopened at 8.45am after oil was cleared up and the lorry was recovered.
