Two people rescued from vehicle in floods

Firemen rescued two people from a vehicle in flooding at the ford at Woodford, near Thrapston, today (Saturday, December 22).

The incident happened just after midday and the fire service is now urging drivers not to drive through flooded areas.

At around 3pm the Environment Agency issued a flood warning for people living in isolated properties near the River Nene, from Cogenhoe to Great Duddington.

Fire service area manager Mark Ainge said: “The surface water situation in the county is likely to continue to be hazardous to road users and the public.”
