Two major retailers have quashed rumours that they are set to close their stores in the Newlands Shopping Centre in Kettering.
Suggestions had been circulating on social media that HMV and W H Smith in the shopping centre had been earmarked for closure, following the closure of the 99p Store before Christmas.
The HMV store almost closed down after a dispute over rent in 2014.
But both retailers have confirmed there are no plans in place to shut the branches.
A spokesman for HMV said: “HMV Kettering is trading very successfully in the Newlands centre and we have no plans to change its location.
“The store is approaching its 30-year anniversary, having opened in February 1986.”
A spokesman for W H Smith said: “I can confirm that we have no current plans to close this store.”
