Thieves used sleight of hand to try to steal jewellery from a woman in Corby.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the attempted theft which happened yesterday (Thursday) at about 2pm.

The victim was walking along Alexandra Road when a car pulled up alongside her. Two women in the back of the car asked her for directions to the local hospital.

She gave directions and was thanked by one of the passengers, who tried to kiss her hand and offer her a gold bracelet. The offender slipped the bracelet on her wrist and as she did so tried to take the victim’s own bracelet. The victim realised what was happening and pulled away.

The offenders are described as two men and two women, all in their early forties with dark hair. They were in a silver 5-door car
