Tributes paid to council’s deputy leader

TRIBUTES have been paid to council’s deputy leader who has died.

Cllr Philip Hardcastle was deputy leader of East Northamptonshire Council and had represented the Barnwell ward since 2003.

Council leader Cllr Steven North said: “It was with great sadness that we learned of Phil’s death and our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

“With his passing East Northamptonshire has lost a true friend. Phil’s contribution to the work of the council has been immense, and he also played an active role in the life and work of the local community. His extensive business experience and wise counsel were an asset when key decisions had to be made, in particular those affecting the economic well-being of the district. He will be much missed by us all.”
