Motorists heading for Northamptonshire are warned the M1 is closed all weekend.
Highways England are carrying out essential work on the southbound carriageway between junction 20 at Lutterworth and junction 19, the Catthorpe Interchange with the A14 and M6.
Cones will go up from 10pm tonight (Friday June 5) to 6am on Monday morning (June 8). Diversions will be clearly signposted.
The two-month project is being carried out to bring smoother journeys for motorists and protect a motorway bridge for years to come.
Two repair schemes will be delivered at the same time — replacing an existing waterproof system on the bridge at Shawell Walcote and resurfacing around two miles of the northbound and southbound carriageways — to minimise disruption for motorists.
Much of the work involves various overnight closures of the southbound carriageway as far south as junction 18 until June 23.
Highways England Project Manager Steve Longden said: “We appreciate people’s patience while we carry out this important maintenance work which will improve the quality of journeys for drivers and ensure that the Shawell Walcote bridge is protected for the future.
“We understand that roadworks can be disruptive but are doing all we can to carry out these two schemes together to ensure minimum inconvenience for road users and local communities.”
