Stagecoach has announced that they will be making changes to bus services across Northamptonshire from Sunday, 24th January.

These changes follow after Northamptonshire, along with the rest of the country, entered its third national lockdown earlier this month which subsequently resulted in a reduction of people using public transport.

Managing Director of Stagecoach Midlands, Mark Whitelocks, said “Since we were asked to stay at home by the government, we have seen passenger numbers fall markedly. But we have still seen a lot of key workers and customers using services for other essential journeys.

“Over the last couple of weeks we have been busy working on plans with Northamptonshire County Council to reduce service levels but make sure we still provide for the essential journeys that our customers are making.”

Services will broadly run to a Saturday frequency with some minor changes to ensure that key workers can still travel to work.

Mr Whitelocks added: “We continue to do all that we can to keep our buses safe for you to use. If you are making an essential journey then help us keep you safe by making sure you travel with your face covering on - unless you have an exemption - and wash your hands before and after travelling.

“Keep your distance from others both at the bus stop and when on the bus. If you can, use our contactless payment facility on buses or buy your ticket on our Stagecoach Bus App.”

Full details of the service changes are available from the Stagecoach website.
