Experts predict 24 hours of rain could fall up to 6am on Christmas Eve
Northamptonshire is set for a pre-Christmas soaking as Met Office experts warned the county to expect heavy rain for a 24-hour spell.
Today's yellow alert issued for most of southern England says heavy rain could bringing flooding in some places going into Christmas Eve.
A Met Office spokesman said: "Tuesday night will start dry with some clear spells before turning increasingly cloudy with outbreaks of rain arriving from the south overnight.

"Wednesday will see further outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, and it will feel colder with a brisk northeasterly wind developing."
Northamptonshire's forecast is for 20-40mm in most places with 50-70mm in some with the yellow warning valid from 6am Wednesday until 6am on Christmas Eve.
Local weather-watchers @NNweather expect a frosty start to Christmas Day as temperatures tumble to -2°C followed by sunny spells and increasing cloud in the afternoon.
