Planet Bounce Corby will open next door to the Hampton by Hilton hotel at Rockingham Park in Princewood Road.

The new centre follows on from the huge success of the company’s first venture in Nottingham.

It will feature a total of 70 trampolines including a main arena and two trampoline dodgeball courts.

There will also be a gladiator pit with a high beam and a foam pit, plus a huge air bag which is used as a landing area for people practising their stunts.

Two tumble tracks will be installed for people with gymnastic ambitions and there will also be an area for aeroball - the sport described as a cross between trampolining and basketball.

The firm’s marketing events manager Laura Fynney said: “We opened our first centre in Nottingham in August last year and it has been completely packed out.

“We looked at Corby because we’ve seen there is a lot of regeneration going on in the town and the unit there is absolutely perfect for our needs.

“Trampoline centres are a relatively new concept over here.

“They’re huge in America but they’ve really grown in popularity over here over the past year.”

When a similar centre opened in Dalkeith last year, there were more than 100 injuries in three weeks including a broken neck.

But Laura said Planet Bounce will do everything within its power to ensure the safety of its customers.

She said: “They’ll complete a waiver form when they come in and everyone will have to watch a safety briefing video before being allowed to use the equipment.

“We’ll have court monitors in all areas of the park.”

Grip socks will be compulsory and will cost £2 but they can be reused on subsequent visits.

There will also be a cafe and seating area.

Late-night ‘after-dark’ bounce events featuring a DJ will also be held regularly.

The existing centre in Nottingham is open to people aged between four and 65 but it is hoped that Planet Bounce Corby could open to children even younger, subject to insurance.

Entry will be £10 per one-hour session.

It will be the first time the unit, built in 2006, has been occupied.

There is no firm opening date but fitting-out has already begin and owners hope to open Planet Bounce later in the spring.

A 24-hour gym is also planned next door in the defunct Rockafella’s nightclub.

It will be manned by eight members of staff and will be part of the Anytime Gym franchise which already more than 50 branches around the UK including in London, Glasgow, Leeds and Bristol.

Blueprints for the gym are currently before council planners.
