Traditional Polish dance classes for adults and children are starting Corby.
Iwona Kurylo, 24, who moved to the town from Poland 18 months ago, is launching the classes at Nene Valley Dance School, above the Fitness Factory in Stuart Road.
Sessions will be held every week and the first are on Tuesday, January 15, from 6.30pm until 7.15pm for children and from 7.15pm to 8.45pm for adults.
Iwona, of Rowlett Road, Corby, who works as a consultant with an insurance company, said: “I have been dancing since I was six years old and when I moved here I couldn’t find any traditional Polish dance classes and decided to start my own.
“Everyone is welcome to come along, adults and children. Polish folk dancing is great fun and very energetic. It’s a great way to keep fit.
“There’s lots of singing and the costumes are very colourful. It’s also a great way to make new friends and find out more about another culture.
“There are a lot of Polish people living in the Corby area and I’m hoping they will be interested and encourage their children to come along and help keep the traditions of the country they were born in alive, but all nationalities are really welcome to join.”
Iwona hopes that once the group is established its dancers will be able to take part in folk festivals and cultural events in the region.
She said: “I can promise people the classes will be very lively and they’ll have fun.”
Classes will cost £2. If you would like more information please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
