Police, fire and ambulances services, including the air ambulance, were called to the A6 just outside Rushden at 12.25pm today (Monday).

A police spokesman said one person was taken to Bedford Hospital and a further two people were taken to Kettering General Hospital for treatment, although the injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The spokesman added: “We are just in the process of organising recovery of the vehicles involved and there’s oil on the road.

“Road closures are in place, which are causing a few problems, so we would urge people to avoid the A6 northbound for a couple of hours.”
