The pub in Thrapston’s High Street was one of just 10 to make the final shortlist from 65 pubs across Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and Rushden.

And it went on to beat off stiff competition from The Queen’s Arms in Orlingbury and The Ranelagh Arms in Wellingbough to bag first prize in the competition, as voted for by Northants Telegraph readers.

Landlady Katie Buncombe was delighted to hear that they had taken the top spot, but also admitted that they weren’t expecting to win after looking at the strong competition from other pubs in the area.

Katie was joined by staff on Tuesday to be presented with the trophy and certificate which they can put on display to share their success with customers.

And after posting about the win on their Facebook page, numerous customers got in touch to congratulate them and say it was well deserved.

The community pub has a choice of areas to socialise, from the quiet family lounge to the busy bar area with a good choice of beers and other drinks.
