Three cyclists have raised £1,300 for a county charity after completing a seven-hour, 100-mile challenge.

Tom Wand and John Stimpson from Thrapston cycled a total of 108 miles around Rutland Water on behalf of Barnwell-based Action for Asperger’s.

The duo, who were sponsored by AJ Cycles of Higham Ferrers, were also joined for part of the route by Phil Ashton from Kettering.

Tom said they chose to help the charity because of the good work it does for people with Asperger’s syndrome and autism.

Action for Asperger’s CEO Elaine Nicholson said: “We are extremely thankful for all those who sponsored the men on their fundraising mission. This money will do much to help lives that have become adversely affected by the experience of autism.”
