Thieves have made off with the garden furniture from a sheltered housing complex in Wellingborough.

The sets of wooden love seats, which are two chairs joined by a small table, were taken early this morning from Attley Court in Olympic Way.

Resident Barbara Hawthorne, who has lived at the complex for about 10 years, said: “None of us here are very happy about it.

“We clubbed together to buy these chairs, we’ve only just got them.

“They are wooden and very heavy. It can’t have been easy to take them away.

“The residents here like to sit out in the sun on them.

“I hope when people hear about this it pricks someone’s conscience and they decide to return them.”

A Northants Police spokesman confirmed they have had a report that two benches were taken some time between 10pm on Monday and 6am today.

Witnesses, or anyone with information, should call police on 101.

Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555.
