A disabled woman has branded the thieves who stole her scooter “scum”.

Julie Perkins, 55, left the scooter in hallway of the flats where she lives in Arbroath Court, Corby, and it was stolen on Monday (July 9).

She suffers from back and hip problems and can only walk 50 yards.

She said: “Whoever took the scooter is scum. If they realised how much inconvenience and hardship they have caused me, they would be ashamed.

“The scooter belonged to a friend’s husband and she gave it to me after he died.

“I can’t imagine why anyone would want to steal something that goes at five miles an hour.”

A group of four boys was seen hanging around the flats before the burgundy and grey scooter was stolen.

The theft has been reported to the police and anyone with information on its whereabouts is asked to call them on 101.
