Thieves steal cash after breaking into Kettering branch of the Samaritans

Cash was stolen after thieves broke into the home of a charity which provides support for people in times of need.

Police are investigating the break-in at the Kettering branch of the Samaritans in Montagu Street in the town.

A spokesman for the Kettering branch, who contacted the Northants Telegraph following the incident which took place overnight on February 18, said: “The Samaritans, a local charity based in Montagu Street, Kettering, recently suffered a break-in to the premises, resulting in the need to replace windows and various office equipment including laptop computers.

“The volunteers, who are all unpaid volunteers, were able to continue with their service to community even with the disruption caused.”
The charity offers confidential emotional support 365 days a year and 24 hours per day, and said it is seeing more and more demand for its services each year.

A spokesman for Northants Police said they are investigating the incident, during which cash was stolen.
