Thief strikes at home of elderly victims

A thief broke into a house and stole jewellery and cash while the elderly residents were in another room.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the burglary which took place on Tuesday, November 13, between 7pm and 8.30pm in the Duncan Court area of Wellingborough.

An elderly couple, a 94-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman, were both at home when an offender kicked in a small wooden panel in the front door and gained entry into the house.

A police spokesman said: “The offender carried out a search of one of the rooms and stole a quantity of cash and jewellery.

“The victims were in another room at the time and did not hear the offender enter or leave the property.”
