A charity gig is being held in Corby on Saturday (August 31) in memory of hero soldier Lance Corporal James Ashworth, who was awarded the Victoria Cross.
Tribute band The Jam DRC will be playing at the Conservative Club in Cottingham Road and proceeds from the event will go to The Colonel’s Fund Grenadier Guards.
The charity supports the families of Grenadier Guards killed in action, as well as wounded and injured members of the regiment.
L/Cpl Ashworth, of Corby, died aged 23 in a fierce battle with the Taliban in Afghanistan in June last year.
The former pupil of Lodge Park Academy was killed trying to save his comrades and was awarded the Victoria Cross, the country’s highest award for valour.
Tickets for the tribute night are £8.50 or £10 on the door.
They are available at Tony the Barber in Everest Lane and Gallagher’s barber shop in Pytchley Court. They can also be obtained by telephoning 07707 213 478.
