Geoff Love, chairman of the Titchmarsh Village Hall Committee, said he was unsure who the culprits are, but welcomed the addition.

It is the lates in a long line of installations which have seen the decommissioned phonebox transformed to help promote village and national events. It has become a Pudsey Bear, a snowman and a giant Christmas present among other things.

Mr Love said: ”The first installations came as a surprise, and no-one owned up to doing them.

“Over time though, a number of organisations and individuals have added their own decorations to the phone box and we welcome contributions from anyone with a good idea.

“We are not currently aware who has transformed the phone into Dr Who’s Tardis as it happened over night, but it has certainly caused a stir in the village.”
