Staff at Rothwell’s Art and Heritage Centre have thanked everyone who contributed towards a dance which raised funds for the centre.
The dance took place at Tresham Hall earlier this month. Ray Davis, from the centre, said: “It was a great success and all volunteers would like to thank all who helped make it a night to remember, in particular the Sounds Familiar Band and Alan Mills and Roger and Jen Wilson along with all the community who supported us.”
Meanwhile, a First World War exhibition with a large range of photographs and memorabilia contributed by residents continues at the centre throughout August.
The exhibition includes a trench bunker which includes sound effects of gun fire and artillery explosions.
There is also a horse-drawn replica field gun.
Rothwell Junior School pupils have provided art, letters to the unknown soldier and poems from the trenches as well as a large poppy made of bottle tops which is the focus of the centre’s window display.
