Family and friends who have already raised more than £85,000 in memory of
Matthew Pinnock are teeing up for another fundraiser.

Team Butters started fundraising in memory of Matthew, from Higham Ferrers, who died from an inoperable brain tumour in December 2012 aged just 22.

Since then, they have raised thousands in memory of Matthew and are hoping to boost this further with a golf day at Rushden Golf Club from 2pm on Saturday.

Friend Daniel Turiccki said: “We’ve organised a charity golf day to raise money for CLIC Sargent, a charity who helped close friend of mine, Matthew ‘Butters’ Pinnock, while he battled an inoperable brain tumour in 2012.

“Matthew was told he had a brain tumour in January 2012.

“He was half-way through his final year at Loughborough University and it was just a few days prior to his 22nd birthday.

“In February, of the same year, we were informed that the tumour was inoperable and once doctors remove a drain, relieving the pressure from his brain, he would only have 48 hours to live.

“This was painful news for everyone who knew Matthew and saying goodbye was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

“Miraculously, Matthew battled for a further 10 months, stunning doctors and hospice workers. He left the hospital to go to a hospice and then left the hospice to go home, something that rarely happens with terminally ill patients.”

Proceeds from the golf day will go to CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.

Daniel added: “CLIC Sargent were there from day one and provided support to him, and his family, throughout this ordeal and they still continue to keep in contact.”

Around 40 players will take part in the golf day to raise more money as part of Matthew’s legacy. It follows Team Butters’ success inother events, including the Wiseman Welly Walk, Tough Mudder and various London Marathons, .

Spectators are welcome from 3.30pm to enjoy the golf.
