Survey to ask Northamptonshire people about their wellbeing services

The survey is being carried out by Northamptonshire County Council, Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Northampton, who are all working together to form a new Wellbeing Community Interest Company.

The survey aims to find out how county residents would like to access wellbeing services and understand what keeps them well.

The three partners will be working with stakeholders, staff and residents to create a new model for delivering integrated health and wellbeing services in the county.

Their goal is to create an organisation which delivers integrated services that enable people to feel healthier and better about themselves and helps residents to take charge of their life.

The survey will also ask for views on the ideas for the new organisation which is aiming to be fully operational by June 2016.

The research is part of a programme of consultation and engagement which will be undertaken over the next five months.

The consultation and engagement process will involve residents, voluntary organisations, current service providers and other interested partners and public bodies in the county.

This is one of several opportunities for people to influence how things operate.

The survey will be open online until Monday, June 8, and headline results will be made available during late June through a series of countywide roadshows as well as via the Wellbeing Community Interest Company webpages.

Dr Akeem Ali, director of public health and wellbeing at Northamptonshire County Council who is one of the directors leading on the establishment of the wellbeing organisation, said: “This is an extremely important piece of research as it is the first time we have asked the public for their views on the new wellbeing organisation.

“I would encourage all residents to take part and complete the online survey as we want to build a new groundbreaking organisation which has been informed by our residents needs and priorities and at the same time involve them in the shaping of the design and delivery of services that will be available to them.”

Cabinet member for public health and wellbeing Councillor Robin Brown said: “This is an extremely exciting time for public services in Northamptonshire as we go through the most profound change in them for more than a century.

“This consultation will build on our understanding of what people want from a new enterprise offering wellbeing services so it can be built directly around their needs and wishes. I look forward to seeing the views and getting more insights into the communities which will be served by this new organisation.”
