A discount supermarket has applied for a premises licence for its new store in Corby.

Aldi already has a store in Rockingham Road, Corby, but work has started on a second store in the town, which is taking shape in Saxon Way West.

While work progresses on the new store and its associated car parking and landscaping, Aldi Stores Limited has applied for a premises licence for the opening hours and sale of alcohol (for consumption off the premises) from 7am until 11pm Monday to Sunday.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the premises licence application can send their views to the licensing department at Corby Council before December 27.

A spokesman for Aldi said: “Aldi expects to be able to open its second store in Corby at Saxon Way West in March 2018.

“Our new store will feature Aldi’s full range of high-quality products at low prices, as well as free car parking for our customers.

“The new food store will employ around 40 full and part-time staff.”

Online recruitment for jobs at the store has started, including adverts for a store manager and a deputy store manager.

And the spokesman added: “Aldi is the UK’s highest-paying supermarket, offering wages that are well above the National Living Wage and far in excess of the industry average.

“Anybody interested in applying for a role at the new store should visit for more information.”
