Students from Tresham College’s Sixth Form Academy have delivered presents to Kettering Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) just in time for Christmas.
They raised money for the unit after the premature birth of the son of one of their tutors in October. Lecturer Manoj Sandhu, and his wife, a midwife at the hospital, have praised staff at the SCBU.
Activities including raffles, face painting and card and cake sales raised £170 to buy blankets, baby wipes and other essentials.
Mr Sandhu said: “I’m very pleased with the effort that the students put into the fundraising and delighted with the total of £170 that we can donate to our local hospital.”
Sister Lisa McKenna, from the SCBU, said: “It’s nice to have extra presents to hand out to the families who spend time at the unit over Christmas. We always give out stockings, but having more presents is a nice bonus and we really appreciate it.”
