Student electrifies judges

A student at Tresham College in Wellingborough is through to the finals of a national competition.

Last month, Aleksejs Puckovs won the MEGGER National Apprentice Electrician of the Year 2014 semi-final heat held at Bedford College.

Aleksejs was up against 11 other students from different colleges.

Tutors Graham Venning and Gary Hayers accompanied him to the semi-final where he had to create a lighting and power circuit. Aleksejs said: “I was very nervous on the day of the semi-final but when I found out I had won I was very excited and I felt very proud of what I had achieved.”

The national final is on Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, at the JTL National Centre of Excellence in Birmingham.
