Staff from the Co-operative Food store in Higham Ferrers are hosting a day of fundraising for the Rushden & Higham Football Club under-11s team next week.

The team are pitching up at the store on Saturday, July 28, to take part in a sponsored run and cycle-ride day. Players and store staff will run on a treadmill and cycle on an exercise bike in the shop for a total of six hours to raise funds for a new team kit.

Customers can donate to the cause in-store from next week, or by sponsoring the club or store before the event.

The store has already raised £450 for the club through a Jubilee cake stall and bric and brac stall at the Higham Ferrers fete earlier in the year.

Store manager Anita Paffett said: “We can’t wait to kick off our fundraising next week. The Rushden & Higham Football Club is a fantastic local club and as a community retailer, it is vital to us that we continue to support such deserving causes.”
