Lincolnshire Police are appealing for information following the theft of a BMW M3 from a property in Uffington, Stamford, on August 13, which was later spotted in Thrapston and then heading towards Oundle.

Thieves broke into a property and stole the car keys and spares before driving off in the vehicle.

The vehicle was unique in that it is only one of a few four-door M3s, all of which are produced in the colour Silverstone, which is silver/blue depending on the light.

The vehicle was installed with a tracker device which was activated later that day at 12.45pm and at 12.55pm in Wansford.

There were no further activations from this point and it is therefore believed that the tracker device was removed from the vehicle in the Wansford area.

A witness saw the vehicle later that day, with false number plates, at 6pm in Thrapston at the Bull Ring.

The vehicle was again seen at the Bull Ring on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 14, following a member of public reporting it as suspicious.

When officers attended, a blue Ford Focus Estate was seen to arrive with two males.

One of the males got out of the vehicle and opened the BMW using the keys.

Upon police pursuit, the males drove off at speed in the Ford Focus Estate on the A605 towards Oundle.

A witness states that the vehicle was driven poorly and at particular speed.

The vehicle was also seen tailgating cars in an attempt to get past them quickly.

Lincolnshire Police are particularly keen for anyone to come forward who saw the BMW being left or picked up at the Bull Ring or remembers seeing a blue Ford Focus Estate driving at speed in the area.

Police are also are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Wansford area.

Anyone with any information can contact DC James Thompson, Grantham CID of Lincolnshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 351 of August 13.
