The newly crowned champions of the Evo-Stick League Southern Premiership have been praised for showing the real spirit of Corby.
Following Corby Town’s win on Saturday, which saw more than 800 fans travel down to Poole for the crunch match, Corby Council has congratulated the Steelmen on their achievement.
The council’s chief executive, Norman Stronach, said: “Corby Borough Council would like to join the whole of the borough in congratulating the team on their tremendous victory this weekend.
“The club has seen many changes on and off the pitch over the last year, so to be able to lift the Shield on Saturday is the perfect way to end the season and is a much deserved reward.
“We are very proud of the players and the management on staying strong to earn this promotion and to the fans who have represented their home town well throughout; they all came together to show the real spirit of Corby.
“Congratulations Corby Town FC, we look forward to cheering you on next season to more success.”
