Station set to open its doors for open day

People are being invited to go and have a look behind the scenes at Irthlingborough fire station at an open day.

The station in College Street will open its doors to the public from midday to 4pm on Saturday, September 22.

People are being invited to go along and meet Irthlingborough’s firefighters and have a look around the station.

They will get the chance to see the crew in action as they show how they go about rescuing people from car crashes.

Visitors will also be able to get an inside view of a real chip pan fire or try to find their way through a smoke-filled house.

There will be activities taking place throughout the afternoon.

The open day will also include a water awareness presentation and firefighters will be giving advice on home fire safety.
