A new group for people interested in astronomy is to hold its second meeting in October.

Stanion Stargazers will meet on Friday, October 4, at 7.45pm, to discuss the European Southern Observatory.

The group was launched last month by Tony Segal to promote interest in astronomy and related sciences.

The meeting will be held in Stanion Village Hall, in Old Brigstock Road, and will include a slide show and feature-length documentary.

Mr Segal said: “The evening will end with an observing session, subject to weather conditions.

“Children are welcome to come along but they must be accompanied by an adult.”

People interested in joining Stanion Stargazers can find out more by visiting or emailing

The annual membership fee is £25.
