Spring online in April

A free online taster event is being organised in Wellingborough to help older people get online.

Age UK Northamptonshire is holding a series of free internet taster events to help local people learn more about using computers and the internet as part of the national Spring Online campaign.

As well as events at the charity’s office in Northampton, there will be one at Wellinborough Library on Friday, April 4, from 10am to midday.

Volunteers will be available to offer a helping hand, and people will get the opportunity to learn about browsing the internet to research family history, plan travel trips, learn games and hobbies, store photographs, email, shop on eBay and use social media.

Kate Kingston, at Age UK Northamptonshire, said: “We hope as many people as possible will come along to our Spring Online event and give digital technology a go.”

Spring Online 2014 is run in association with Carphone Warehouse and includes thousands of free taster events and sessions across the UK to help and inspire people to use of the internet.

Currently about seven million people have never used the internet and of those about six million are aged over 55.
