The family of a keen cyclist who died of a heart attack held a sponsored bicycle ride in his memory.
John Howlett, who lived in Brigstock all his life and managed the village ladies’ football team, died last year.
Seventeen relatives and close friends in fancy dress completed the 10-mile cycle ride from Brigstock to Burton Latimer on Sunday, September 21, and raised £1,080 for Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and the British Heart Foundation.
Lucy Howlett said: “About 20 people cheered on the cyclists and afterwards there was a barbecue at my house.
“This time the event was for family and close friends but next year we might open it up for others.”
Fancy dress characters on the cycle ride included 118, the Karate Kid, an Oompa Loompa, a gorilla, ET and Elliot and a cowboy.
