The shortlist for the 2014 Spirit of Corby Awards has been drawn up and now residents will choose the town’s unsung heroes.

The list includes volunteers who give up their time to run clubs and support charities, people who have overcome illness and help their community and those who enrich life in Corby by supporting the arts, education and sport.

Votes can be cast until midday on Monday, September 15, and the winners will be announced on the awards night at The Core theatre on Friday, September 19.

Shortlisted for the ComSpirit Award are Len Beard, the She Matters Group and Corby carnival stalwart Terri Meechan.

In the Pride in Your Area category, people can vote for Cameron Kellie, Lewis Folkes and Mark Webster.

Shortlisted for the Creative Spirit Award are Jean Devenney, Mark Brennan and Sharon Jones and those in the running for the Club Spirit Award they are Charlene Donnachie, Sheila Lauder and Corby’s Shout Theatre Group for young people.

In the Educational Spirit Award category the shortlisted nominees are Amanda Punter, Leanne Buckingham and Paul Malone and in the Youth Spirit of Corby Award they are Catherine Ward, Christina Hughes and Exeter Little Ambassadors.

The overall Spirit of Corby Award winner will be chosen from the winners of the other awards.
