Speed interviewing to help unemployed

SPEED interviewing will help match young people and employers at an apprenticeship and jobs fair.

The three-minute interviews, modelled on speed dating, will be part of the fair at Kettering Conference Centre in Thurston Drive from 2pm to 5pm on Monday.

Employers Church’s Shoes and door and window lock manufacturers Winkhaus will be at the event, as will training providers Moulton College, Kettering Borough Training and representatives from the National Apprenticeship Scheme.

Young visitors can talk to local employers and training providers, watch practical demonstrations and take part in the speed interviews.

The speed interviews allow 16 to 19-year-olds to learn about opportunities available and employers to find out a little about the jobseekers, after which they can decide to go on to a formal interview.

Lauren Wyatt, Connexions choices adviser said: “The aim of these events is to match young people to employers or training providers who have jobs, apprenticeships or training opportunities to offer. They will also help young people build their confidence and interviews skills.”
