There was a special guest, and a 100-year age gap, at one Christmas lights switch-on.

Young Bobby Sharp, who was born on August 26, was the special guest at Bilton Court care home’s event.

He shared the spotlight with 100-year-old Connie Spademan, whose birthday is in June, and Irene Shaw, who turned 100 last month.

Sarah Speller, activities co-ordinator at the Wellingborough home, had the idea of inviting Bobby along.

She said: “We wanted to involve the community in our Christmas celebrations this year so we put a leaflet out asking if anyone had a child born between Connie and Irene’s birthdays.

“Bobby was a star, he was well-behaved and loved the attention as he was passed round.

“Connie is our oldest resident and she switched on the lights and said a few words.

“It was lovely to see people at such different stages of their lives.”
