Thieves have been targeting houses on the Queensway estate in Wellingborough.

As part of Operation Guardian, which is Northamptonshire Police’s countrywide initiative to reduce burglary and vehicle crime, PCSOs have visited residents on the estate where there has been a number of burglaries recently.

Officers spoke with householders to offer crime prevention advice and give out security marking kits.

Securely marking your property in this way provides a unique forensic reference on valuables such as laptops and televisions which allows stolen property to be traced to its original source, and serves as a deterrent to thieves.

Sergeant Sharan Wildman said: “Wellingborough Safer Community Team will continue to focus on reducing burglary across the area through Operation Guardian and to address issues in a targeted way by carrying out local projects such as this. Further visits to other areas on the Queensway estate are planned in the coming weeks.”
