Disappointed youngsters who worked for weeks on creating costumes and a float for Wellingborough Carnival are determined to have fun, despite the event being cancelled.
They will be dressing up in their outfits and showing off their Noah’s Ark float at St Barnabas Church, in the town, today (Saturday, July 7) from midday.
Joanna Swann, a member of the congregation, said: “For six weeks youngsters have worked in the float and all the costumes have been handmade. We are all totally devastated that the carnival has been cancelled but we decided to do something positive.”
Visitors to the church will be able to see the float and children dressed in their costumes and there will also be music, face-painting and party food inside the church.
Wellingborough’s carnival and Party in the Park was cancelled due to the weather forecast and the severely waterlogged ground in Croyland Park.
