BUDDING footballers will be getting expert advice from a Premiership coach as part of the Let's Kick Racism Out Of Football campaign.
Youngsters from Corby Kingswood FC under-eights will attend a session with Wigan Athletic FC’s head youth coach Oshor Williams.
Mr Williams is visiting Lodge Park Sports Centre today to put the youngsters through their paces during a coaching session.
He will then present them with Let’s Kick Racism Out Of Football T-shirts and talk to them about the campaign.
The scheme was started in 1993 and aims to ensure that everyone who goes to see or play football can do so without fear of racial abuse or harassment.
Corby Kingswood FC has put the event together in partnership with the Professional Football Association and the Educational Sports Forum with support from Corby Council.
Corby Council Lead Member for Community Tom Beattie said: “Let’s Kick Racism Out Of Football is a very important campaign. It is great that young people in Corby are able to get involved through their football team.
“Well done to all of those who arranged this event and thanks especially to Oshor Williams, whose presence will not only give the young players a fantastic day but will also strengthen the message behind the campaign.”
Chief executive of the Educational Sports Forum Alan Irwin said: “I know the kids will have a wonderful time working with Oshor during training, while at the same time getting the very clear message that racism has no place in any sport.”
