Search on to find true spirit of Corby

The search is on to reward unsung heroes and organisations in Corby who go the extra mile to help others and show the true spirit of the town.

Corby Council has launched its 2012 Spirit of Corby Awards and residents are being asked to nominate the people and groups they believe deserve recognition. There are six award categories and people can make as many nominations as they like for one or all of them.

Once all the nominations are in, an independent panel will draw up a shortlist for each category and residents will be able to vote for the winners.

An independent panel will select the winner of the overall Spirt of Corby Award, won last year by Cobwebs, a group whose members have learning difficulties and who volunteer to clean up woodland areas.

Last year more than 3,000 people cast votes in the Spirit of Corby Awards and it is hoped they will generate the same interest this time.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at The Core theatre, Corby, on Tuesday, August 28.
